Located in Petit Bonanjo, Bonendale, Green Construction Afrique is a revolutionary alternative construction-technology provider in Cameroon.

An Introduction

There have been a number of successful do-it-yourself businesses that focus on the joy of the creative process. Currently, in Douala, there is no existing stabilized soil brick plant which offers the same product and service. However most city dwellers come from rural areas where houses are built in mud block. Such houses will serve as a nostalgic appeal to customers’ and getting the product to the market will be facilitated.

There are a couple of burnt brick providers who are currently too expensive for the social or comfortable segment. A Kiln located on the south side of Douala expressed its inability to appeal to the market and was disappointed that cement has beaten the initial intention of government to encourage local material use. This is a unique opportunity to prove the contrary with the eco bricks which do not need firing, are cheaper and classy.

The focus of Green Construction Afrique is to make construction fun and not stressful as is the case at the moment. The key is how the customer feels about the experience rather than the money.

What we do

The plant staff provides a comprehensive range of bricks, tiles, flooring, and pavements. The construction team provides training seminars for clients, and is ready to support the customer throughout the building project, plus idea books and a helpful staff to get the client started on their building plan conception. Brick-making machines for the production of eco bricks are also available for young entrepreneurs.

Green Construction Afrique will build residential homes to accompany government in its plan to provide better housing for city as well as urban populations.

The Cameroon government is planning to build social housing using burnt bricks. As we speak there is one Hoffman kiln running at Nkolbison in the central region. Burnt bricks are being produced there at an industrial scale to build houses which will be allocated to willing purchasers on a bond. At the moment the majority of houses are still being built using cement. The government of Cameroon has set up 'MIPROMALO' (Mission for the promotion of the use of local material) to encourage the use of local materials, so as to cut cost and promote local industry. MIPROMALO has been encouraging the use of soil-compressed bricks using Hydraform machines from South Africa.

Our Ethos

We strive to create/find and provide high quality, innovative, and environmentally-friendly building materials to builders and construction companies in Cameroon, making it a better, greener place to live in.

What is Green Building?

Green building refers to a structure and using process that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This requires close cooperation of the design team, the architects, the engineers, and the client at all project stages. The Green Building practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort.
